Japanese Band Introduction - Sorrow of Tranquility

Guitar: NUNO
Vocal: GOOWY
Bass: POWER THE NORi
Drum: MARTY
There are plenty of better and suitable bands to choose from my music list to lead off the recommendations from the metal genre, but I put high priority on bands that do not have entries on them on the net so we’re starting off with Sorrow of Tranquility. Personally, it’s a solid band and I do enjoy their music. A small exception is that they play melodic death metal, which won’t interest people who insist on hearing more progressive bands. Sorrow of Tranquility does however fall right in the sweet spot marking the fair balance between melody and technique. Unique vocals and regular amount of guitar solos.
If you’re not one of those people, and prefer to keep a wide library of similar sounding bands, you’ll get a kick out of this addition. Sorrow of Tranquility has been steadily remaining on my current play list at least. Unfortunately the lyrics are in broken English if you check them on their official site, but that shouldn’t matter since the vocals are harsh and you can barely make out any words anyway. Also check the site for full-length samples they have up there. One of those samples is surprisingly sang entirely in clean vocals.
Living For Agony Despair
Eternal Truth
Fly Away
They sound pretty awesome. I can’t get into metal on a regular basis though. :P
It all depends on the mood for me. I go through these phases for certain type of music, so to say. Like there are times when I prefer soft, slower music when I normally don’t. When I want to hear something rough, I would go for some straight-forward indie rock.
If we’re talking about the present in which the weather is really hot over here for the summer, I would tend to listen to “cold” music such as metal or anime music.
Aurabolt, we seem to have similar taste in music. I grew up on punk and my current favorite genre is melodic metal. I love Disarmonia and I’ve recently become borderline obsessed with Blood Stain Child. What can you recommend to me that is similar to BSC’s most recent three albums? Does anything close even exist?
Thanks.
It does sound like we have similar taste. Punk rock dropped down to 2nd place once I discovered melodic death metal. Perhaps I’ve been neglecting rock too much these days, but whatever.
As for the request/question…
Nope. I’m terribly afraid to say there isn’t a band remotely close to playing Blood Stain Child’s sound. No band or album has ever mixed trance and metal (except BSC). Disarmonia Mundi’s Oceangrave is probably the closest I’ve ever heard.
Yeah, I really don’t know. None are similar to the least. From Japan, Lost Eden is the only other band I heard using electronica. Even then though, they use it at the bare minimum (like Dark Tranquillity). You only ever hear them during intro portions of a few songs.
Oceangrave is a great song. I love Disarmonia Mundi; almost nobody I know has even heard of them.
Not sure if you’ll like them, but Sonic Syndicate has electronic elements intermixed into their metal. Their album “Only Inhuman” is another of my recent favorites.
