Sky Girls 05 - Demo Flight
Another average episode, but it’s slowly getting better. Episode seven just needs to replace moving targets with Worms. If anyone is wondering, I say seven because the next episode look like another filler like episode four. Not at all excited about the fourth character as well. Darn, should have saved up all those shots of Togo face-palming for this occasion. In any case, this week’s event was one anyone (yes, even people who didn’t see the OVA) could have seen from miles away. Still have to say Otoha’s struggle with ranged combat was amusing to some degree as it reminded me of Arado’s training in Super Robot: Taisen Original Generation 2. They both fall under the same description as the close range idiot with unknown potential. What I didn’t foresee was Otoha’s Sonic Diver responding to her and suggesting the sword. To think I was actually expecting that idiot Ryohei to be the one to come up with the idea of equipping Otoha with a sword because he was observing Otoha practice kendo at the beginning of the episode. See, now people can’t blame me for flaming him because I tried to give him chances to appeal.
I’m quite surprised at how erratic Eika can get. She’s all worked up due to self-pressure for one moment, then all better and happy almost right away. Normally, characters like Eika are the last to participate in teamwork as well, but she lets in quite easy given the circumstances plus some hope she gained after finding out she’s not the only one who cares about staying on the team. This may sound a bit negative, but I think she only got eager to lead the team because the team’s failure meant losing her goal to surpass the Sonic Diver that beat her in episode one. I’m sure she would have been more tough about it if it didn’t involve anything on the line for her. Overall, it was more or less Togo’s plan to get Eika to take responsibility as the leader and rub off some of her determination on the rest of the team with her new onee-san air to push them in before the deadline. Sad Eika with the pouting look is also cute if I have to say so myself. So, does anyone agree that shot of Otoha is way too detailed?
I really envy you Anii-sama. To think you have such a devoted sister who insists on handwriting her letters. That makes me wonder though. Does he even reply to those mails Karen to seems to send in by batches every day?
Damn it, Danny was right about the scary likeness to Neon Genesis Evangelion. First we had that whole synchronization techno babble, and now we get that infamous music training scene. Next thing we know, Eika will go crazy and throw around her AT Field.
I solemnly swear there is no spread for Otoha because she’s my least favorite girl of the three. Blame the animators for not keeping the background consistent. Otoha looks fine if I put together two screenshots, but the background is way off. Anyway, an Eika is fine too. I want to get scolded and bossed around by her. :3
damnnit, another training animu. potential wasted.
Skygirls is awesome. EP 6 is excellent too ^^;
