Clannad (Visual Novel) - Miyazawa Yukine

It seems I have landed myself in a role intended for Furude Rika. No matter how many times I hit restart, the date never goes past the 26th of April. It just abruptly ends there. To top it off even, Clannad has been giving off the doom sign in the form of the laser tag scene. There is no avoiding it. Once Tomitake and “Takano” dies, there is no stop to Oyashiro-sama’s curse. Free katsu and shuu cream will be given out to the person who decides to play Hanyuu, and tells me what I’m doing wrong.

Leaving that drama aside though, I haven’t been wasting my time for nothing though. Even though the game just doesn’t seem to let me succeed in routes for the main characters, I have managed to clear some of the minor routes such Misae’s or Sunohara’s. And as for the obvious, my favorite of the lot is Yukine’s route. (I actually completed it a few days back, but Pokemon Diamond has been delaying this post.)

Roughly describing Yukine’s route, it’s like the movie Phone Booth. All you do is stay in the reference room through the whole route, but that’s the reason why it is awesome. At worst, it might make you a little claustrophobic. Staring at that same window does get tiring, and the route might have been much lively if some of the “delinquents” who frequently sneak into that room were made into actual illustrated characters with individual names.

Although it may be dejavu, and I vaguely remember someone saying Yukine’s route was intentionally supposed to feel like another world. Actually, swipe that last word and call the place heaven. Unlike my poor excuse for a college, I wouldn’t mind living in that comfy reference room forever. You have a nice room with Yukine, her spell book, and food. What more do you need to relax?

Lastly, I ask the forbidden question. Why does the school staff leave the room be? Yes, besides the fact they may get mobbed by a bunch of angry delinquents. Surely, a teacher would have noticed from all the household appliances that the place is pretty much turning out to be a residence.

What happens on the 26th? Laser tag? I don’t quite get it. Is it an error with the patch or just a bad ending?

Nah, that’s just the last event you see before the game suddenly takes you to the main title after the dream sequence from that night.

And when I mean laser tag, I mean laser tag. Tomoya, Sunohara, and Kyou end up playing this laser tag game at one point… won’t spoil the rest.

Well, it’s not even a bad end… it just stops like that. Much to my amusement, it doesn’t seem to be a patch error either. There is an old forum post I found on Google, which asked the same question.

At this point, I believe I need to interact with the other girls as well or something, but I’ll have to wait for a new patch to test that theory. Can’t try any of that at the moment since getting involved with Nagisa crashes the game on the 23rd.

Well, I’ll try testing that theory too. That means sleepless nights for me while I grind through tons of Japanese text.

Oh wait, sorry for double posting, but did you notice any extra orbs of light on the main screen (The screen you see with stuff like ‘New Game’ or ‘Load’)? If so, it means that the arc is completed.

Uh, I haven’t noticed any on the screen, but I did get two orbs of light. One from completing Sunohara’s route and the other from Yukine’s.

Ah, well in that case… I’m not quite sure what you mean by ‘it ends on the 26th’. Perhaps, just perhaps, it counts as a bad end because you did not choose the right choices to embark on a story path?

Since Nagisa IS the main heroine out of them all, it figures that you would need to interact with her. Unfortunately the patch has its limits.

Well, I’ll go give it a try myself.

Okay, I found this and it’s working well so far. Have to replay Misae and Kappei’s later. Those were bad end too since I didn’t get the light orb. Anyway…

*slaps himself* I was right. Apparently you can’t completely ignore the other girls. At least, not the ones who are going to play a role later. Usually that girl would be Nagisa, but there are exceptions. Like, Kappei’s route can’t be completed if you don’t interact with Ryou… and much to the surprise, Yoshino Yuusuke. Gah, it gets complicated. That’s the part I’m supposed to figure out without a guide.

Edit: (Self Note) I somehow prefer this. http://yuzz21.web.fc2.com/CLANNAD.html
