Japanese Band Introduction - Northern19

Guitar/Vocal: 笠原 健太郎
Bass/Vocal: 井村 知治
Drums: 馬場 豊心

Today, I present Northern19. Another incredible punk band from what I have left to offer. Frankly, I do not have much to say about them. Lively and promising are two words that describe them very well. The chorus to Stay Youth Forever is ridiculously simple, yet contains a lot of emotion and unity. Northern19 can definitely go a long way once they release a second album proving to be just as great or better.

Northern19 does not exactly stand out with an unique sound like Hawaiian6 and Tribal Chair, but they do have a strange strength in combining the best of punk. All three band members play excellently along with what I deem as great songwriting. Points I can highlight include a drum beat very reminiscent of Hi-Standard, and instances of melodies played out in the same fashion as Hawaiian6. Crave You has a good audible bass demonstration as well (or watch the PV). However, the best of Northern19 are the signature guitar solos. Even though this is not the first time I heard a solo in punk, I found it surprising that such guitar play was constantly present throughout an album. English isn’t too shabby either.
