Apparently, I did not go over this before…

So, let’s make this straight to the person who will remain anonymous, and to others who might make similar requests in the future. Do not ask to be linked in the blogroll.

Japanese Underground Music = Expensive Hobby

Sometimes I feel like cursing my own interests. This is certainly not as expensive as figurine collecting, but can get just as frustrating to the consumer. Some might say trying to buy just about any Japanese music ends up like this, but it’s slightly different. Music CD prices all in the same range indeed. The same does not apply for the chance of finding a used for a low price though. Popular music is… obviously more popular so it usually has more used stock than the underground ones. And of course, higher the stock means better chance of finding the price you want. Anyway, an overpriced CD at around 40 dollars is given so I have not much to say on that. The problems when the lowest priced CD is selling at an estimate of 80 dollars. I am not spending that much for one CD.

Clannad (Visual Novel) - Sakagami Tomoyo

This is the first primary route I finished a while back. It has been nearly a month since I completed so my memory is not refresh, but I recall the mixed feelings from it. Although Sakagami Tomoyo’s route rightfully deserves its standing as one of the main routes, the ending really leaves you displeased. It is a happy ending so that’s good. The problem is just that you get a happy ending for doing nothing. Pretty anti-climatic. What the heck is Key trying to imply here? Wait for your problems to solve itself? That’s not very good in my book. Well, I guess in a way, you can say this route gave meaning to endurance. How Tomoya actually waited until the whole school year was over to back get with Tomoyo. I don’t know. You get the rising action here, but there’s no action. Something felt missing in this route. Never mind that though.

Kimi ga Aruji de Shitsuji ga Ore de 04

This admittedly was one of the more disappointing beach episodes. I normally do not touch low budget comedy shows, and this episode reminded me why. In short put it like this: Bikini service shots are not satisfying when the animation is poor. We want to see the girls drawn with good curves, and shapely legs. The stitched screencap of Shinra below has none of that; the legs are just totally out-of-shape. Nevertheless, the show is still in good shape. It’s not as if I was watching this show for the eye-candy anyway. As Mentar puts it, our main attraction to this show is its shameless humor. Not a lot of shows are as brave enough to insert ecchi scenes that seem to be crossing the border. Mistina Anastasia is one to mention there. In any case, I will continue to watch it as long as that is retained.

Night Wizard - Yes! We killed God!

That’s right Elis. First you kill Kureha, and now you kill God. Go away and eat your vegetables.

Most of all, I heartily agree with what Elis has to say. The whole show would not have been too bad if not for her. Although the producers deserve some credit for trying to make the show interesting and different, it just did not work out. We do not want a weak lead character who sits there blaming everything on herself. Besides, it is freaky knowing she has been writing to an anonymous old man who wants to meet her behind the mall when she turns seventeen. At that point, you wouldn’t want anything more than a boring, average, traditional anime. Who cares if someone’s hairstyle is boring? Better than balding right? Moreover, average animes have some sort of charm in itself if you look at shows like Mushi-Uta. Night Wizard actually had characters like Renji and Anzelotte to keep it worthwhile so I do not see how the same approach would have been impossible this show.
